This year the rate markets have come back to a more sensible reality after flirting with the la-la land of 7 cuts. And all the while, the more sensible equity markets have paid only fleeting attention to their rate brother's whining. As a guy who was brought up in the fixed income and currency markets, I'm increasingly finding more sensibility in the equity markets as I head into later stages of my career. Having five-year inflation expectations (as measured by the 5-year breakeven inflation rate) never ramp higher while cumulative inflation surged around 20% since January 2021 is a testament to his stalwart success. There have been no fumbles at the Fed so far during a protracted fight to ensure anchored inflation expectations and long term price stability.

But the judge angrily told prosecutors that their questions to the witness had crossed the line. Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, was shot dead in his recording studio on Oct. 30, 2002. After lengthy discussion, DeArcy Hall decided the trial could continue, with a caveat: She told jurors to disregard the two questions and their answers. Misorek was cleared to ask whether Washington “said anything else about Jam Master Jay's murder.”“Um, he just said that he killed him,” McDonald said, and that answer was allowed to stand. Prosecutors and an eyewitness say Jordan shot the rap star while Washington stood at the door and brandished a gun.

Rap legend Jam Master Jay lay, mortally wounded, on his studio floor. But he said that in the ensuing days, wounded eyewitness and aide Uriel “Tony” Rincon told him that Jordan fired the gun and Washington was there. But neither they nor Allen told investigators initially, or indeed for years, that the eyewitnesses could identify either man. “The only person you saw with a gun in hand was you, right?” asked one of Jordan's lawyers, Mark DeMarco. The witness said he grabbed it “for protection" before running out to look for anyone who might be running away.

NEW YORK (AP) — She was a teenaged aspiring R&B singer and rapper who had gotten an appointment at Jam Master Jay's recording studio. Concepcion was brought to tears as she testified Thursday in the trial of two men charged in the 2002 killing. “Where did Jay get shot?” she recalled asking one of the DJ's aides, Uriel Rincon, who himself had been shot in the leg. She said she asked him to help her check Mizell's pulse, so the two moved the 37-year-old rap star's arm. “I'm sorry — I can't talk about stuff like this,” Concepcion told jurors, fanning herself and tearing up, then duly going on to describe the graphic particulars of what they saw.

Jay is one of many workers contending with shifting rules around in-person and remote work. For some, those arrangements just don't work — and, like Jay, some workers would take a pay cut to be able to stay remote. The research on whether remote work is less productive is mixed, though, and for some, it may be a better fit than for others. Jay said his previous managers, for instance, "were completely in favor of remote work" but told him "this decision is out of their hands." Already, there's an "office apocalypse" raging in some cities, with McKinsey predicting remote work will slash the value of office buildings to the tune of $800 billion by 2030.

Many gig workers rely on tips to make ends meet, but some say tipping is getting worse. Three gig workers told Insider that people who appear to be wealthy are the worst tippers. Several delivery drivers replied to the story, and while a few related to Jay's experience, most of the workers Insider heard from said that the opposite was true in their experience: Rich people are the worst tippers. Young professionals on TikTok are advocating for building "identity capital" to get ahead at work and in life. Identity capital has a lot more to do with connections and relationships and community." "The personal resources acquired developmentally become important," Côté wrote in one 2012 paper, with those personal resources being the experiences that make up identity capital; he calls identity capital the "black box of agency" where there is none. "I don't think identity capital is only valued to the extent that it's seen as profitable," she said.
The business has been valued at as much as 3 billion pounds ($3.7 billion), according to analysts. "But we do see a pathway whereby, via consolidation, ITV may be able to simultaneously both demonstrate and create value from ITV Studios," they said. ITV built up its Studios production business in the last decade to reduce its reliance on the British advertising market and tap into rising global demand for content. Revenue in the nine months to end-September rose 16% to 1.39 billion pounds ($1.71 billion). That would imply a valuation of about 3 billion pounds, in line with analysts' calculations and nearly as much as ITV's total market value of 3.27 billion pounds.
